Fekadu Alemu is a journalist, educator, and communication specialist with extensive experience in media, academia, public relations, advertising, and social media platforms. Fekadu has written feature articles on politics, media, and social and economic issues, and has participated in radio productions on critical investigative issues. He has worked as a freelance reporter for Wazema Radio based in Addis Abeba and Addis Insight news media, as the Head of Communication at Lideta Subcity (Worda 10) in Addis Abeba, and as the Communication Manager at Awach Sacco S.C. He worked at the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization as a trainee communication and information officer (UNESCO).
Fekadu has provided companies, governments, and academic institutions with various consistent training and technical support in the areas of customer communication, media and advertising, communication and development, and investigative journalism. He has also translated the Handbook of Journalism, Fake News, and Disinformation from English into Amharic. Fekadu’s research interests include mass media political economy, new media trends, and institutional communications. He graduated with BA and MA degrees in Journalism and Communication from Addis Ababa University, as well as an International Diploma in Development Journalism from the IIMC in New Delhi. Fekadu is currently working as a founder and Acting Executive Director at Ethiopian National Media Support (ENMS).
