Marew Abebe is a lecturer at Debark University, Ethiopia. He began his career as a reporter before moving on to higher education. His area of research includes federalism, political communication, media law, freedom of expression and human rights. He writes a column for Addis Fortune, Ethiopia Insight, and other local newspapers and international media outlets about Ethiopian politics and federalism issues.
He earned his MA (2013) in Federalism studies and his BA (2010) in Journalism and Communications. He also received a Higher Diploma Program (2019) from Haramaya University in Ethiopia. From December 2014 to February 2016, he successfully completed a German language course and was a student at Gottingen University’s Department of Political Science in Germany. In the summer of 2019, he attended the Tom Lantos Institute’s Global Minority Rights Summer School at the Hungarian National University in Budapest.
