This video is a book study public dialogue event on “The Ethnification of Ethiopian Media,” co-hosted by Bahir Dar University. The study, financed by FOJO-IMS and written by Terje Skjerdal (Ph.D.) and Mulatu Alemayehu (Ph.D.), discusses the interaction between #Ethiopian media and identity politics in Ethiopia over the last few years. The study shows the role of media in ethnic tensions in Ethiopia and that media practitioners are deeply concerned about the significant trend towards more polarisation fuelled by ethno-nationalistic media of different origin and ownership, vis-à-vis federal-Ethiopian channels.
