Mulatu Alemayehu (PhD) is an Assistant Professor of Journalism & Communication at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He is also a coordinator to the Ph.D. program of School of Journalism & Communication at the same university. He did his PhD at the University of Oslo, Norway. He is a Sylff fellow of Japan. He has an extensive experience in Ethiopian media as a practitioner, educator, and researcher. His area of research, training interest and expertise is in election reporting, conflict reporting, peace journalism, issues of journalism, political economy of the media, and media and democracy.
He worked as a media and communication consultant to the Reconciliation Commission of Ethiopia. He is also a trainer to the Ethiopian
He has been facilitating various training on peace journalism, conflict-sensitive reporting, crisis communication, election reporting, hate speech, and fake news, and other media-related issues.
He is author of a couple of articles on media in Ethiopia. He is currently finalizing a comprehensive study on Ethiopian Media development based on UNESCO Indicators.
