This video is a preview of a webinar event on “The Ethnification of Ethiopian Media.” The study, written by Terje Skjerdal (Ph.D.) and Mulatu Alemayehu (Ph.D.), and funded by FOJO-IMS, examines the interaction between #Ethiopian media and identity politics in Ethiopia over the last few years.
The study shows the role of media in ethnic tensions in Ethiopia and that media practitioners are deeply concerned about the significant trend towards more polarisation fuelled by ethno-nationalistic media of different origin and ownership, vis-à-vis federal-Ethiopian channels.
